GUADALUPE "LUPE" ELIZALDE VILLEGAS, was surrounded by her loved ones when she entered eternal life on January 4, 2026, at the age of 90. Lupe was born in Fierro, New Mexico on February 28, 1935, to Josefina and Ladislado Elizalde. Lupe was raised in her beloved birthplace of Fierro, later moving to Deming New Mexico after her graduation from Cobre High School.

After high school, Lupe worked as a bank teller and bookkeeper, later working as the financial officer for the Deming Senior Citizen Center. Beginning in the 1960's, Lupe sold Avon until her "retirement" from Avon sales in 2019 at the age of 84. In 1967 Lupe married Antonio Villegas, the couple later had a child, Rebecca (Becky).

Lupe was a devout Catholic who was well known for offering her heartfelt prayers to her beloved family members and friends. In this same caring nature, Lupe gave generously of her time to babysit generations of family members, she was a grandmother to many. Lupe enjoyed sewing, she was a skilled seamstress who won an award in a competition for a dress she made for Becky's first day of school in the 1st grade. Lupe later lovingly sewed outfits for her grandson and great grandchildren, including a skirt that her granddaughter Sophie helped her imagine.

Lupe is survived by her daughter Rebecca "Becky" Villegas, her grandson Esteban Manzo (Ruby), great grandchildren Alexie Sophia Manzo and Esteban Antonio Manzo Jr. She is also survived by many cherished family members including numerous nieces and nephews, many who called her grandma. Lupe's absence will be deeply felt by her family and friends. Lupe is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Miguel Elizalde, Antonio Elizalde, and Manuel Elizalde; her sisters Marylou Dominguez and Teresa Bravo; her stepson David Villegas; and her nephew Robert Bravo.

A Memorial service will be held in Las Cruces on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Our Lady of Health Catholic Church, 1178 N. Mesquite Street. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will take place at 9:30 AM.  A Mariachi Mass will follow at 10 AM. Inurnment-graveside blessing will take place immediately following the mass at Masonic Cemetery, 760 S. Compress Road.
