GREGORY HARDIN TATUM, age 74, of Las Cruces passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at his home with his loving wife at his side. He was born May 14, 1950, in Detroit, Michigan to Lillian Louise Hardin and Timothy Tatum. "Greg," as he was fondly known to family and friends served his country honorably in the United States Army. After the Military he was employed at the Wayne County Jail in Detroit as a cook until his retirement. In 2018 the family relocating to Las Cruces, and he was a member of the VFW Post# 3242.
Survivors include his loving wife of 25 years, Louise Haynes Tatum; son, JR Tatum of Chicago, Ill; daughter, Tiffany Masden (Antron) of Lexington, KY; and brother, Timothy Tatum (Geraldine) of Atlanta., GA; one grandson, Dakota as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Tatum was preceded in death by his parents, Timothy and Lillian Louise Tatum and sister, Donna Tatum, and other family members.
Visitation for Greg will begin at 1 PM Friday, October 4, 2024, at Baca's Funeral Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road with the Funeral Service at 2 PM. Cremation will take place and Inurnment of cremains will be held at a later date at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Military Honors to be accorded by the United States Army Honor Guard.
