It is with deep sadness and very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend, GRACE LOZANO MONTANEZ, at the age of 72 on Tuesday, December 24, 2024. She was born December 3, 1952, in Anthony, TX., to Esther Lechuga and Cruz Lozano. Grace entered the golden gates of heaven 2 months after her loving mother. Grace was a beacon of strength, a pillar of the community and a shining example of what it means to live with courage, bravery, and unwavering determination. Her life was not always easy, but she loved wholeheartedly. She was employed for the public schools as a cafeteria cook for numerous years and was a devout member of the Roman Catholic Church.
Those left to mourn her passing include her beautiful daughter, Victoria Valdez, (Tury) of Anthony, TX., a son, Carlos Montanez (Marisa) of Chamberino; 2 brothers, Eddie Lechuga (Alice) of El Paso, TX., and David Lozano of Kathy, TX., 2 sisters, Terry Portillo (Norberto) also of El Paso, TX., and Frances Black (Darryl) of Anthony, TX. Other survivors include her loving 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
Visitation for Grace will begin at 10:30 AM Friday, January 17, 2025, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 224 Lincoln Street in Anthony, with the Prayer Vigil at 11 AM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated immediately thereafter. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Anthony Community Cemetery, 750 Acosta Road where she will be laid to rest alongside her husband and parents.
Serving as casket bearers will be Tury Valdez, Fili Medina, Hector Gonzalez, Frank Balderrama, Ezequiel, and Isaiah Montanez. Honorary bearers Jeremiah Montanez, Norberto Portillo, III., James and Cody Black; granddaughters, Sahara, Savanna, Santana; and great-granddaughter, Victoria.
