Obituary

On January 4, 2023 Gloria G. Ramos entered eternal life peacefully, surrounded by loved ones. She was 88 years old. Gloria was born on October 13, 1934 in La Union, NM to Luz Madrid and Pedro Garcia.

Gloria was Cafeteria Manager at La Union Elementary School, she was a member of the PTO while her grandkids attended La Union Elementary, she ran the concession for the Little League Team in La Union and she was an avid supporter of the La Union Farmers, she was the 1st woman chairperson for the Democratic Party of Dona Ana County. She was also  a founding member of the La Union Volunteer Fire Department and was also Firefighter of Year, she was the first female supervisor at Azar Nut Company and a devout member of Our Lady of Refuge Church where she was a member of many ministries and helped at many church  bazaars and cook offs.

Those left to mourn her include her son Joel Ramos, three daughters Irma Lazarin, Stella Chance, and Minerva Menchaca.  She also leaves a brother Armando Garcia, six grandchildren, Yvette Lazarin, Viola Ramos (Roman) Sarah Chance, Melynda Silva (Ernie), Nicole Sanchez (Michael) and Matthew Ramos; four great grandchildren, RJ Ramos, Rayden Ramos, Emiliano and Camila Sanchez and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Rosalio "Chale" Ramos, parents Luz and Pedro Garcia, brothers Pete Garcia and Gonzalo Garcia.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday January 14, 2023 at Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church, 1320 Mercantil Avenue in La Union. Visitations will begin at 09:00 A.M. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 09:30 A.M. with the Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 A.M. Interment and Rite of Committal will be at La Union Cemetery where she will be laid to rest.  Serving as

Casket Bearers will be Matthew Ramos, Armando Garcia Jr., Gonzalo Garcia Jr., Roman Ramos, Michael Sanchez and Ernie Silva.  Honorary Pall Bearers will be Joel Ramos, Rayden Ramos, RJ Ramos, Oscar Menchaca, Oscar Gallegos and Emiliano Sanchez.

Our family would like to give special thanks to the staff and residents of Sunny' Living for the great care they provided for our mother, also to the staff at Butter Smith Restaurant North Mesa, El Paso Texas and  Dr. Alfonso Chavez.
