Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of our beloved Veteran of the U.S. Navy Frank Raymond Reyna Sr. of Las Cruces, NM on Tuesday October 22, ,2024 at the age of 80 years old.

Frank was born and raised in Las Cruces, NM. He attended Las Cruces High School where he learned to play the drums, he then became the drummer of the band Midknighters Combos. After he graduated in 1962, he enlisted in the U.S.  Navy Signalman 2nd class. He served during the Vietnam War and was aboard the USS Mount Baker (AE4). In 1967 he was honorably discharged. He was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Navy. During this time in the late 60's he built fishing boats in California before returning to Las Cruces, NM. In the early 70's he became an officer with the Las Cruces Police Department, shortly after that Frank enlisted in 1977 with the U.S. National Guard where he reached the rank of Sergeant First Class E7 with the 642nd Maintenance Company in Las Cruces; he retired in 1996.During this time, he was also employed with the New Mexico Highway Department. After retirement Frank went to fulfill his dream of finishing college where he started in Santa Ana California, he graduated from NMSU in May 2000 with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice. He then worked 12 years in the Criminal Justice for DISMAS in Las Cruces until he retired with time and age. Four years ago, Frank was diagnosed with congestive heart failure, we are very honored to have had him with us as long as we did. He was a soldier all the way until the end, he had many visitors from family and friends during his last 3 weeks with us here on earth. Frank has numerous great accomplishments he was also a devoted member of the Catholic Church for over 40 years. He loved spending time with family and friends, and enjoyed the outdoors fishing, and camping.

He will be greatly remembered and deeply missed by his loving wife of 44 years, Rose D. Reyna, his children: Frank Reyna Jr.(Lucy), Prissy Madrid (Mike), Annette Dominguez (Carlos), Joe Reyna (Darlene), Jeff Albillar and raised 3 great grandchildren Nevaeh, Isaiah, and Zariah. His grandchildren Gloria (Pete), Robert, Roman, Christopher, Leah, Destiny, Salina, Sabrina, Manny (Angela), Joel (Maryann), Dezarae, Dannyelle (Benjamin), Angelo, Stephanie, Dominique, and Alexis (Jerry). 24 great grandchildren. Siblings: Arturo Reyna, Tomas Reyna (Mary), Linda Reyna, Estella Reyna (Trent), Barbara Reyna and his beloved service dog Riqui; as well as numerous relatives, nephews, nieces, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jose Encarnacion and Bertha (Guzman) Reyna, Siblings Daniel, Dolores Monsivaiz, Ricardo (Richard) Reyna Sr., Albert Reyna and Esther Madrid.

Serving as pallbearers will be Daniel Reyna, Albert Madrid, TJ Valenzuela, Ben Valenzuela, Benjamin Carrillo, and Carlos Vasquez. Honorary pallbearers are Bobby Ruiz, Isaiah Soto, Aiden Perea, Xavier Salazar, Jeremiah Carrillo, Matteo Herrera, and Zavian Parra.

A viewing will be held at 9:00 am followed by a mass at 10:00 am on Tuesday November 26,  2024, at Santa Rosa De Lima Catholic Church located at 5035 Holsome Rd. Las Cruces, NM 88011. The burial where he will be laid to rest is to follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with military honors at 2:30 pm located at 5200 Fred Wilson Ave, El Paso, TX 79906.

A Reception will proceed at 4:00 pm at Santa Rosa De Lima Catholic Church Hall located at 5035 Holsome Rd. Las Cruces, NM 88011
