With deep and heartfelt sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Francisca "Kika" Diaz, of Anthony, New Mexico. Born on October 4, 1938, in Canutillo, Texas, Kika's vibrant spirit and boundless love touched the lives of all who knew her. She departed this world peacefully on November 8, 2025, at the age of 87.
Kika, as she was affectionately known, lived a life rooted in faith, family, and compassion. Her home was a haven of warmth, laughter, and unconditional love. Whether through a kind word, a shared meal, or a comforting embrace, she had a way of making everyone feel cherished. Her legacy is one of resilience, generosity, and unwavering devotion to those she held dear.
She is survived by her loving children, Gracie Grier, Sally Diaz, and David Diaz; her cherished siblings, Mary Mainez, Santos Portillo, and Olga Flores; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
A Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 224 Lincoln Street, followed by a Prayer Vigil at 10:30 AM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated immediately thereafter. Kika will be laid to rest at Anthony Community Cemetery, 750 Acosta Road.
Serving as casket bearers are Sal Morales, Ralph Morales, Anthony Gomez, Victor Gomez, Johnny Diaz, David Diaz, Nathan Diaz, and Danny Zavala.
Though Kika may no longer walk among us, her soul lives on—in the echoes of her kindness, the warmth of her embrace, and the light of her enduring love. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
