Obituary

On Friday, February 21, 2025, the golden gates of Heaven were open, and Our Lord Jesus Christ welcomed our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend, FRANCES EVARO AVALOS, home at the age of 87. "Frances" as she was known to all was born September 17, 1937, in La Mesa to Hilaria Gonzalez and Alberto Evaro. She was a loving homemaker, a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Anthony Post 4384 and a devout member of the Roman Catholic Church.

Frances will always be remembered for her "T" time.

Those left to mourn her passing include her loving husband of 68 years, Edward "Lalo" Avalos; 3 sons, Edward Avalos Jr. (Pat Gomez) of Ysleta Del Sur Pueblo, TX; Gilbert Avalos (Kaye) and Xavier Avalos (Cynthia) all from Las Cruces; daughter, Sandra Martinez (Christopher) also of Las Cruces. Other survivors include 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild as well as numerous nieces and nephews; 2 brothers, Rodolfo Evaro (Margaret) and Albert Evaro (Matilda); sisters-in-law, Dolores Evaro, Estella Evaro, and Esther Evaro; 2 brothers-in-law, George Sanchez, and Juan Acosta; sisters-in-law, Helen and Tito Nevarez, Connie, and Jimmy Flores; brother-in-law, Ray, and Liz Montoya. She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers, Juan, Nicolas, and Manuel Evaro; 6 sisters, Damacia Chavez, Isabel Goodwin, Nina Cano, Sara Carrasco, Jessie Sanchez, and Mary Acosta.

Visitation for Frances will begin at 9:30 AM Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Santa Rosa de Lima Catholic Church, 5035 Holsome Road, with the Prayer Vigil at 10:30 AM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated immediately thereafter with The Reverend Gino Wilcox, Celebrant. At her request cremation will take place and Inurnment of cremains will be held at a later date.

Serving as casket bearers will be Edward Avalos III., Marcus Avalos, Anthony Avalos, Robbie Lucero, Dominic Daugherty, and Javier "Bear" Vasquez. Honorary bearers are Rudy-Abel Avalos, Tomas Avalos, Bryan Avalos, Vaughn Smith, Andrew Brem, Javier Vasquez Sr., David Munoz, Lucas Daugherty, Jonathan Gomez, Jayden "J.J." Munoz, Jasmine Vasquez, Tunie J. Molina, Thiago Avalos, and Jesse James Kiehne.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to Margaret Roybal for her compassionate caregiving. Tender Care and Mesilla Valley Hospice for their kindness and dedication who brought comfort and peace in a time of need.
