It is with great sadness to announce Filomena Padilla Garcia passed away peacefully on July 8, 2023. She was born on September 12, 1931 in Anthony, NM to Clara and Anecito Padilla.

Mrs. Garcia retired from the Las Cruces Public Schools after 18 years as a cafeteria worker. She was a loving woman who enjoyed cooking, aerobics, bingo as well as spending time with family and friends.

Those left to mourn her include her children Mary Gamboa, and her late husband Alfredo, Jim Garcia and wife Patsy, Ramon Garcia Jr. and wife Isela. She also leaves 12 grandchildren Henry Gamboa, Jessica Gonzales, Armando Gamboa, Erica Gamboa, Nikko Garcia, Brianna Garcia, Ernie Garcia, Eddie Ray Garcia, Andy Garcia, Ariel Mendez, Monique and Chris Hernandez. She also leaves numerous great grandchildren Deandrea Espinoza, Isaac Gamboa, Gabriela Saenz, Xavier Saenz, Ivan Gonzales, Faith Gamboa, Suny Ray Garcia, Paloma Garcia, Julijah Garcia, KyLea Garcia and Austin Garcia. Great great grandchildren include Noah Blevins and Dylan Forbes.

Filomena was preceded in death by her parents Clara and Anecito and her siblings Jesus Padilla, Josephina Carbajal, and Anecito Jr Padilla.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday July 18, 2023 at Baca's Funeral Chapel 300 E. Boutz Road. Visitations will begin at 05:00 P.M. and Evening Service will begin at 06:00 P.M. Following the service cremation will take place and inurnment will be at a later date.
