Fidel Velasquez, 88, of Las Cruces, passed away peacefully on July 05, 2026. Born March 9, 1938, in Pueblo, Colorado, Fidel was the beloved son of Maria and Jose Velasquez. He spent many dedicated years working as a laborer in construction, known for his strong work ethic, quiet resilience, and unwavering commitment to his family.

Fidel is survived by his sons Bernie Velasquez, Gilbert Velasquez, Johnny Trevino, and Freddy Trevino; his daughters Irene Velasquez and Pauline Fertig; his brothers Fernando Velasquez, Rudy Velasquez, Danny Velasquez, Sammy Velasquez, David Velasquez, George Velasquez, and Jr. Hernandez; and his sisters Mary Cardenas, Fidelia Velasquez, and Cruzita Washington.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife Anita; his sisters Christina Mendoza, Viola Majorado, and Emilia Marquez; his brothers Joe Velasquez and Johnny Hernandez; and his son Roy Velasquez.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Baca's Funeral Chapel. Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M., followed by the Celebration of Life at 10:00 A.M. Interment and the Rite of Committal will conclude at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, 5140 W. Picacho Avenue.

Fidel will be remembered for his steadfast spirit, his love for family, and the legacy of strength and humility he leaves behind. His presence will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
