DR. FERNANDO LOPEZ was born April 8, 1954, in Cd. Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Enrique and Maria Lopez. At the age of 5, his family moved to El Paso, TX, where he later became a U.S. citizen. A proud graduate of El Paso High, Fernando's mother always said he was destined to be a doctor. He pursued his dream, graduating from the Universidad Autónoma de Cd. Juárez. After passing the foreign medical exam, he went on to graduate from Texas Tech as a pediatrician and later continued his residency to become a neonatologist.

By chance, an opportunity opened in the field of anesthesia, and from that moment, he never looked back. Colleagues admired his calm presence during crises and emergencies, and all who worked with him knew he was exceptional in his field. Known for his humility, he greeted everyone with kindness, often bringing doughnuts and snacks to share. He also began the beloved anesthesia Halloween parties, a tradition that brought joy to his coworkers.

His greatest pride and joy were his children: Fernando Jr., Richard, and Brianna. In 2007, after marrying his wife Kelly, he lovingly welcomed Brett and Breanna into his life as his own.

Fernando's passions included traveling—especially to Mexico, which held a special place in his heart—listening to mariachis, sipping good tequila, enjoying a cigar, sharing corny jokes, and painting. Above all, golf was his happy place.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Kelly; his children, Fernando Jr., Richard, Brianna (Tommy), and Breanna (Frankie); and his grandchildren, Ariana, Zoë, Madison, Aaron, Mia, Annabelle, Ezra, Avery, and Caleb. He is also survived by his siblings Enrique (Sylvia), Laura (Luis), and Veronica (Rob), along with numerous friends—because Fernando truly never knew a stranger.

Fernando passed away suddenly, doing what he loved—golf. His legacy of love, dedication, and kindness lives on through his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
