EVERARDO MEZA MAGALLANES, age 83, of Las Cruces passed away Thursday, August 10, 2023, at La Posada-Mesilla Valley Hospice surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 6, 1940, in Mexico to Manuela Magallanes and Taurino Meza. Mr. Meza was employed in maintenance for the local Hotels and was a devout member of the Roman Catholic Church.

Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Elvira Ureña Meza; 3 sons, Eliseo Meza (Rosario Sanchez), Martin Meza (Paulita), all of Las Cruces and Sergio Meza (Oreysis) of Florida; 3 daughters, Elisa Madrid (Mario) of El Paso, TX., Ofelia Martinez (Luis) of Las Cruces and Gema Elivier Castro (Jose) of California; brother Jose Meza of El Paso, TX., and sister, Maria Meza of California. Other survivors include 18 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Meza was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant son, Martin Meza.

Visitation will begin at 3 PM Sunday, August 13, 2023, at Baca's Funeral Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road where the Prayer Vigil is scheduled for 4 PM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 3 PM Monday, August 14, 2023, at Our Lady of Health Catholic Church, 1178 N. Mesquite Street with the Reverend Alfonso Quinones Celebrant.   The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Masonic Cemetery, 760 S. Compress Road where he will be laid to rest in the family plot.

Serving as casket bearers will be his 8 grandsons.
