It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Estanislao Infante Jr. on May 26, 2025, at the age of 105 at Mesilla Valley Hospice - La Posada. Many knew him as Stan, Tanis, or simply as Infante. Proudly, many more knew him as the crossing guard on Lohman-Amador Avenues and later on Espina Street.
Infante was born to Estanislao Infante Sr. and Paola Duran on April 25, 1920, in El Paso, TX, where he spent his childhood in both the U.S. and Mexico. He finally settled in his beloved Las Cruces, NM, where he continued his beautiful life supporting family, friends, and anyone who needed a little help. He dedicated many years working at White Sands Missile Range and retired from Raytheon. Throughout his life, he learned many things and worked many jobs. He was a musician, a licensed pilot, a diesel mechanic, an auto mechanic, a generator technician, a carpenter, and a Crossing Guard with the Las Cruces Police Department for the Las Cruces Public Schools happily providing children safe passage to school and back home to their families for 19 years.
Infante is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Maria "Licha" Infante. His children, Antonio "Sonny" Jojola (Maria Elena); Lorraine Carrillo (Roddy); Estanislao "Stanley" Infante III; David Infante (Mary); Gloria Ramirez (Danny Sr.); Frances Rodriguez (Darryl); MaryAnn Herrera (Pete); Paul Infante (Yolanda); Sonia Madrid (Victor); Laura Infante (Ricardo); and Roberto Infante (Melissa). He also leaves behind an amazing legacy with 35 grandchildren, 83 great-grandchildren, and 29 great-great grandchildren along with many cherished nieces and nephews whom he adored. Additionally, it would be remiss to not recognize the years of love and friendship from the sons of family friends Charlie and Ann Jordan - Jimmy (Mary), Charles, and Joe.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Concha and Hipolita, son Pedro "Peter" Infante, granddaughter Stephanie Infante, and great-grandsons Robert Samuel Ramos and Eric Chavez.
Pallbearers will be Danny Ramirez Jr.; Stanley Infante IV; Cimmaron Infante; Andy Infante; Mario Infante; Miguel Angel Infante; Ricardo Delgado, Jr.; and Anthony Alexander Ruelas.
The Infante family would like to thank the staff of Mesilla Valley Hospice - La Posada for their professionalism, kindness, and support during our dad's final moments.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, starting at 10am, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral, 1240 S. Espina Street. A Prayer Vigil will begin at 11:00 AM followed by a Funeral Mass. Cremation will take place after services.
