Obituary

With deep love and profound respect, the family of Esperanza Aguirre Martinez, age 88, of La Mesa, announces her peaceful passing into eternal life on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at her daughter's home in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Esperanza was born on September 26, 1937, in Praxedis G. Guerrero, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Horacio and Luz Porres Aguirre. A woman of unwavering faith and quiet strength, she devoted her life to her family and her Catholic faith. As a homemaker, she created a warm and welcoming home where traditions were honored, meals were shared, and love was abundant.

She is survived by her beloved children: sons Manny Navarrete (Bea) and Ruben Navarrete, both of La Mesa, and Ricky Navarrete (Angie) of Anthony; and daughters Maria Ontiveros and Virginia Arroyo of Las Cruces, Teresa Bowen of Kentucky, Leticia Salas and Bertha Navarrete of La Mesa, Irma Sanchez (Alex) of Santa Teresa, Laura Vidana (Carlos) of Brazito, and Lilliana Navarrete of Anthony.

Esperanza also leaves behind three cherished sisters: Dolores "Lola" Serrano Guardada (Amado) of Mesquite, Lupe Diaz (Amador) of Mesilla, and Rosa Trujillo (Arturo) of Las Cruces. Her legacy continues through her 21 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family who will carry her memory forward.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son Roberto Navarrete Jr.; brothers Mateo and Horacio Aguirre; sisters Juliana Martinez, Felipa Rodriguez, and Victoria Nunez; and her son-in-law Rosendo "Chendo" Ontiveros.

Esperanza's life was a testament to devotion, resilience, and unconditional love. Her hands were rarely still—always cooking, comforting, or praying. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. May she rest in the eternal peace she so richly deserves.
