ERNESTO PADILLA, 96, of Chamberino, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 28, 2026, in his home, surrounded by the love of his family.

Ernesto was born June 20, 1930, Ernesto lived a long and meaningful life dedicated to his family, his country, and the things that brought him joy. He proudly served his country for three years during the Korean War, carrying with him the strength, courage, and pride of a veteran.

Ernesto was married to his lifelong spouse, Corine Padilla, for 70 wonderful years. Together, they built a beautiful family and shared a lifetime of memories, love, laughter, and dancing. They were blessed with three children: Mary Jane Duran (Anthony), Jaime Padilla (Annette), and Oscar Padilla.

Ernesto was a proud grandfather to Jeff, Javier, and Vanessa Padilla, and he was blessed with several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. His family was one of his greatest accomplishments, and the love he shared with each generation will continue to live on.

Those who knew Ernesto will remember him for his love of music. He enjoyed playing his keyboard, listening to music, dancing, and spending time at the casino playing his favorite slot machines. He knew how to enjoy life and create memories with the people he loved.

Ernesto was a longtime member of the Moose Lodge and an active member of San Albino Catholic Church. His faith and community involvement were important parts of his life, and he cherished the friendships and fellowships he found through both.

Ernesto was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Ignacio and Margaret; his siblings Delfina, Edward, Minnie, and Ida, and his two sons, Oscar and Jaime Padilla. Though these losses brought great sorrow, Ernesto carried their memories with him throughout his life and is now reunited with those he loved and lost.

Ernesto leaves behind his beloved wife of 70 years, Corine, his daughter Mary Jane Duran (Anthony), his daughter-in-law Annette, his grandchildren Jeff, Javier, and Vanessa Padilla, as well as his great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, who will continue to carry his memory and legacy forward.

His life was one of love, family, service, music, faith, and cherished memories. He will be deeply missed, but the lessons he taught, the stories he shared, and the love he gave will remain in the hearts of his family forever.

A Rosary will begin at 10:30 AM followed by a Memorial Mass, on Friday, September 25, 2026, at the Basilica of San Albino, located at 2070 Calle de Santiago in Mesilla.
