ERNEST GARCIA GIRON, a beloved lifelong resident of Las Cruces, entered eternal life on Sunday, September 5, 2025, at the age of 82. He passed peacefully at Three Crosses Regional Hospital, surrounded by loved ones at his bedside. Born August 25, 1943, to Juanita Garcia and Sam G. Giron, Ernest lived a life marked by service, dedication, and quiet strength. He honorably served his country in the United States Army, embodying the values of duty and patriotism. Following his military service, Ernest earned a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and built a respected career as a self-employed Certified Public Accountant.
A proud member of the VFW Post #3242 and a devoted parishioner of the Catholic Church, Ernest was known for his integrity, generosity, and unwavering commitment to his community and faith.
He is survived by his stepdaughter, Celeste Pawol of Arkansas; brothers Fred Giron (Delia) of Las Cruces and Barney Giron (Diana) of Albuquerque; sisters Mary Louisa Giron and Elizabeth Giron-Boerstler, (Charles) all from of Las Cruces; and numerous nieces and nephews who will carry forward his legacy of kindness and resilience. Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Samuel Giron Jr., and his sister Elva G. Giron.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 9:00 AM on Monday, October 13, 2025, at Baca's Funeral Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road. Inurnment of cremains will follow at San Albino Cemetery, 3131 Calle de Guadalupe in Mesilla. Military honors will be rendered by the New Mexico Army National Guard Honor Guard and the Marine Corps League – El Perro Diablo Detachment.
Ernest's life was a testament to quiet strength, enduring love, and steadfast service. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
