Ernest C. Duran born June 1, 1954 passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2023

Ernest passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family and close friends under the evening of the Full Blue Moon. As a long time friend and coworker had expressed.

"Your dad went to the moon. Did you see the beautiful, bright moon. Yep, just like your dad. That's your dad looking down on us smiling. Like he always did."

Father & Mother Cipriano Duran & Lucy M. Duran of La Villita, NM.

Brother Robert J Duran of Velarde, NM

Brother-in-law William R Green of Santa Cruz, NM

Nephew Ryan M Green of Sacramento, CA

Ernest was a veteran of the US Army and Civil Service Worker.

Ernest was born at home in La Villita, NM.

Ernest graduated from Menaul School in Albuquerque NM in 1973 and enlisted in the US Army.

Ernest & Connie met soon after and were married in 1973 in Albuquerque NM following a reception dinner in Socorro NM. Ernest & Connie were blessed with two sons.

Ernest worked several local jobs in Socorro NM until an opportunity arrived at WSMR and moved to Las Cruces NM.

He is survived by his sons Frank E.R. Duran and family Maria C. Casiano-Duran,

His grandson Isias A. Duran & Granddaughters; Esmeralda B. Duran & Mercedes A. Duran

His brother Cipriano R. Duran and his family: Sean Duran, Kelly Duran & Daniel Duran of Albuquerque, NM

His sister-in-Law Francis Duran, widow of Robert J. Duran of Velarde, NM

His sister Clara Green and her family: Daniel Green, Judith Green, Daniel Green II, Katie Green, Lucas Green and Olivia Green of Rio Rancho, NM.

His brother David Duran and his family: Porfie Duran, Pamela Dominguez, Dean Martinez, Beverly Ortiz, Rey Ortiz and their families, of El Guique, NM

Ernest's viewing and rosary will be held at 10 am on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Baca's Funeral Home, 300 E. Boutz Road, Las Cruces, NM 88005

Military Honors is scheduled to be held on Friday, October 13, 2023 at 1pm at Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 North Guadalupe Street, Santa Fe, NM 87501
