Erminia Luna Fierro, 95 of Las Cruces, N.M. entered eternal rest peacefully in the comfort of her home, surrounded by loved ones on March 9, 2024.
Erminia, known as "Minnie", was born March 18, 1928, in Dona Ana, N.M. to John M. Barncastle and Rosenda Garcia. She was raised by her parents Juan and Josefa Luna, whom she adored immensely. Erminia was a kind, loving, spirited, and giving person. She opened her home and welcomed you as part of the family. She was known as Grandma Fierro to family and friends alike. She loved spending time with loved ones, simply enjoying each other's company. She had a passion for gardening and loved roses. She enjoyed novellas, scrapbooking and listening to music, especially mariachis. She cherished telling stories of her upbringing and the history of the city of las Cruces. We all enjoyed her cooking, she had her way of making things just right, especially her coffee and sopapillas.
Erminia is preceded in death by her parents: John M. Barncastle, Rosenda Garcia, Juan Luna, and Josefa Luna; Her husband Ponce Fierro, Son Johnny Fierro, and sons in law Robert Herrera and Ernesto Sedillo.
She is survived by her children, Nellie Fierro, Josie Herrera, Diane Fierro, Lupe (Juan), Garcia; Stepson Robert Gonzalez; 14 Grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
A Visitation will start at 9am on Friday, April 12, 2024, at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church, 100 South Espina Street. A Prayer Vigil will start at 10am followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30am. Christian Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, 5140 West Picacho Avenue.
