ENEDINA GOMEZ PRIETO, 94, of Las Cruces entered eternal rest on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born June 27, 1930, in Fabens, TX., to Isabel Gomez and Guadalupe Sanchez and raised by Daniel and Amalia Dominguez. She was the second of eight siblings, she dedicated her entire life to her husband, children, and home.
On February 20, 1955, Enedina married the love of her life, Indalecio Prieto and remained together for 67 years until his passing on July 19, 2022.
Together they had 8 children; 3 sons, Indalecio Prieto, III (Dorothy) of Mesilla; Jose Luis Prieto (Patricia), and Alberto Prieto (Delilah) all from Las Cruces; 4 daughters, Socorro Gonzalez, Noema Montoya (John), and Dina Prieto all also from Las Cruces; and Delia De Leon (Joe) of La Union. Other survivors include 16 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Her surviving siblings are, Angel Gomez (Reyna), Isabel Gomez (Ernestina) and Carlota Quezada (Rafael). Mrs. Prieto was preceded in death by her loving husband; her parents; daughter, Norma and her husband, Raul Meza; son-in-law, William Gonzalez; former son-in-law, Pete Garcia; 3 brothers, Rodolfo Costa, Reynaldo, and Juan de Dios Gomez; and a sister, Rogelia Reza.
A special thank you to all her caregivers, especially Rosalia and Olga. We are indebted to Dr. Murali and La Posada Mesilla Valley Hospice for their wonderful and compassionate care.
Visitation will begin at 2 PM Friday, December 27, 2024, at St. Genevieve Catholic Church, 100 S. Espina Street with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 2:30 PM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated immediately thereafter. At her request cremation will take place and Inurnment of cremains will be held at a later date.
Serving as casket bearers will be Clarissa De Leon, J.L. De Leon, Marissa Prieto, Anthony Prieto, Eric Gonzalez, and Isaac Prieto. Honorary bearers will be the rest of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
