ELAINE THEODORA TOTH, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2025, with family by her side. "Granny" as she was most affectionately known was 82 years old. Born May 22, 1942, in Shelton, CT. She found her soulmate and married John Anthony Toth of Huntington, CT. Together they raised three children in Southbury, CT. She spent the last 35 years residing in her beloved Las Cruces, NM. She is daughter of the late Oscar and Wanda Roslonowski Schaffrick and sister of the late Marilyn Cigas.
She leaves behind her loving husband John of 67 years; son, John (Joyce), daughter, Jacqueline and son, Joseph; grandson, Jonathan (Suyeon), granddaughter, Montana (Pedro) and grandson Joey; great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Thomas, Isabella, and Pedro as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
Elaine and John spent decades together travelling to many places having honeymooned in the Southwest where she first found her beloved Las Cruces. Elaine loved travelling to the Texas Hill Country and grew fond of Fredericksburg, TX, and the Blue Bonnets along the way. Granny lived her life full of love and admiration for her family and protected them always. She was a devout Catholic who loved Jesus. She was a world book of knowledge especially when it involved the history of her family. She was very fond of her antiques and had a continuous quest for knowledge about them having owned multiple antique stores. She loved to garden and enjoyed her roses, often naming them. Most meaningful to her was her love of cooking and bringing her family together for meals.
There will be a private gathering of family in Las Cruces and later arrangements for burial.
In lieu of flowers the family is request that donations be made to St. Jude Foundation for children in Elaine's memory.
