Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and dear friend, EDELMIRA "MIRA" LEDESMA FAJARDO, of Las Cruces entered eternal life on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loved ones, at the age of 88. "Mira" as she was lovingly known to family and friends was born June 28, 1936, in San Ysidro to Josefa Alvarez and Pablo Ledesma. She was a loving homemaker, caring, generous lady with a contagious laugh that will be missed dearly by all who knew her. She was a member of the Roman Catholic Church.
Those left to mourn her passing include her husband of 67 years, Tomas J. Fajardo; son, Kenneth Fajardo (Barbara) of Rio Rancho; 2 daughters, Yvonne Fajardo-Ward of Surfside Beach, SC, and Cathy Fajardo-Rodriguez of Las Cruces; brother, Rufio Ledesma of Doña Ana and 3 half-brothers, Fred, Frank, and Louis Madrid; sister, Josie Madrid (Elias) of Doña Ana and 2 half-sisters, Olga Romero, and Candy Solis. Other survivors include 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Patricia "Patty" Fajardo; 3 brothers, Simmie, Modesto, and Willie Ledesma; and 3 sisters, Elodia "Yoya" Fernandez, Piedad "Pal" Barrio, and Mary Lou Fernandez.
Visitation for Mrs. Fajardo will begin at 10 AM Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at St. Genevieve Catholic Church, 100 S. Espina Street with the Rosary at 10:30AM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated immediately thereafter with The Reverend Theophine Okafor, Celebrant. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Serving as casket bearers will be, Kenneth Fajardo, Jonathan Valdez, Dominick Lopez, Andrew Fajardo, Antonio Monsibais, and Nick Hernandez.
