In Loving Memory of Dorothy Altamirano Serna
January 9,1946–January 20, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Dorothy A Serna, a devoted family member, friend, and the biggest Steelers fan anyone could meet. Dorothy left us on January 20, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Known for her unmatched couponing skills, Dorothy was a familiar face to cashiers everywhere, who knew her by name and admired her savvy. She found joy in cooking meals that brought her family together, caring for others with a selfless heart, and dancing whenever the music called. Shopping trips and visits to the casino were among her favorite pastimes, but nothing lit up her world more than spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her days were brightened by music and dancing. Whether it was cumbias, oldies, or today's music hits she left it all on the dance floor! Her charisma and beautiful smile accompanied many cherished moments of her life.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Emmanuel Chavarria and Ramona Altamirano, and her siblings Rosalia Silva and Maria Legarreta.
She is survived by her loving husband Ruben Cordova Serna of 56 years, siblings Estella Serna, Nancy Gutierrez, Jesus Chavarria, and Jose Altamirano; her children Sandra A Serna, Peter E Serna (Kim), and Ruben A Serna (Kristi); and her adoring grandchildren Felicia Martinez (Elaine), Nathaniel Apodaca (Jazmin), Immanuel Apodaca, Carlos Jaramillo (Victoria), Dei Vizcaino, Angel Vizcaino (Katelynn), PJ Serna, Hunter Serna, Trey Soucy, Erika Soucy, and Evan Soucy. Her love also lives on through her great-grandchildren Gabriel, Dominic, Aliana, Amina, Nathaniel Jr., Lennox, Ace, Ezekiel, Zayna, Jazzmin, Azayla, Bently, and Angel Cross, who will carry her memory forward.
Dorothy's legacy is one of kindness, warmth, and a zest for life. Her love of family, unwavering support, and joyful spirit will forever be remembered and cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
