Obituary

Dora Paez Telles, age 82, of Las Cruces, NM, passed away at Sierra Providence Medical Center on November 11, 2023. She was born on November 9, 1941 in Tortugas, NM to Eulalia Contreras and Antonio Paez.  She was the fourth born of six children.

She grew up in Morenci, AZ and graduated from Morenci High School in 1959.  She married Pablo Trujillo Telles, of Mesilla, NM on February 22, 1963. She moved to Las Cruces in 1971 with her husband, Pablo and their 3 children. Upon the death of her husband, she raised her children and later, one grandchild.  Her strength and independence were unmatched.  She retired from Sutherland's Lumber as head cashier in 2005.

She loved reading, gardening and spoiling her grandchildren and three Chihuahuas.   She made the best red enchiladas, chicken tacos, tamales, potato salad and biscochos.   She led a simple life, one that touched many others and she was always willing to lend an ear and helping hands.

Those left to carry on her memory include her children: Paul Telles and his fiancee, Crystal Meraz, Barbara Telles Smith and Edna Telles Hakenson and her husband, Gary.  Also surviving are two brothers, Jesus (Chuy) Paez and his wife Carol, and Antonio Paez, Jr. (Tony) and his wife Lilian, and her sister, Irene Sedillo and her husband, Joseph. She also leaves two brothers, Jesus (Chuy) Paez and Antonio Paez, Jr. (Tony) and his wife Lillian and sister Irene Sedillo and her husband, Joseph.

She had eight grandchildren, Nicole Garcia and husband Jesse, Paul Telles, Jr. and fiancee Maricruz Trujillo,  Drew Telles, Brianna Telles, Alayna Reyes and husband Marcus, Brandy Smith and wife Bree Urban, Rusty Smith and wife Griselda Perez-Smith, and Sydney Hakenson.   In addition, she leaves behind four great-grandchildren, Jesse Garcia, Jr.  Marcus Reyes, Jr., Anastasia Reyes and Rhaelynn Telles.

Dora was preceded in death by her parents Eulalia and Antonio Paez, her beloved husband Pablo Telles, sister Dolores Tapia and brother Henry Paez.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 01:00 P.M. on Friday December 08, 2023 at Baca's Funeral Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road. A reception will take place afterwards at her son's house, 9540 Longhorn Drive, Las Cruces, NM 88012. At Dora's request she will be laid to rest with her husband Pablo in Mesilla at a later date.
