Dora L. Holguin, 77, of Las Cruces, went home to be with the Lord on April 27, 2026. She was a loving mother, cherished grandmother, devoted sister, proud great-grandmother, and caring aunt.

She was born in La Mesa, NM, on September 26, 1948, to Jerry R. and Herminia N. Lucero. Dora lived a life defined by gentleness, kindness, unwavering faith, and a quiet strength that touched everyone she encountered. She possessed a rare gift: the ability to slow life down in a world that so often rushes past. In her presence, time felt softer, conversations became more meaningful, and hearts felt lighter. She made every person feel seen, valued, and deeply loved.

Dora was truly the sweetest soul: selfless, patient, graceful, and filled with the love of Christ. Her faith in God was the foundation of her life, and through every season, she walked with quiet trust, reflecting the peace that comes from knowing the Lord. Her prayers carried her family through hardships, and her wisdom, encouragement, and comforting scriptures will echo in our hearts forever.

She was known for her joyful laughter, warm hugs, and the comfort she brought to everyone around her. Dora found beauty in God's creation and loved nature, beautiful skies, animals, collecting rocks, cooking, baking, gardening, and creating things with her hands. Whether she was making homemade jams, crafting flowers from coffee filters, or nurturing avocado and tangelo trees, she had a special gift for bringing life and beauty into everything she touched.

Dora was blessed with deep love throughout her life. She shared 24 years with her husband, Daniel D. Holguin, with whom she built the foundation of her family. After the passing of her husband, she found a beautiful second chapter later in life with her fiancé, Ronald D. Oncea (Ron), until his passing in 2020.

Her light continues to shine through her beloved and only daughter, Evelyn Melissa Rodriguez (Lisa), and son-in-law, Jose; her grandchildren, Brianna Pena, Adrianna Rodriguez, and Nathaniel Rodriguez; and her eagerly awaited great-grandson, Antonio Rodriguez. She is also survived by her sisters, Rosa Covarrubia (Ernest), Lea Lucero (Ray), and Rebecca Rocha (Hector); her brother, Adam Lucero (Conni); and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she loved dearly.

Dora is now joyfully reunited in Heaven with her parents, Jerry R. and Herminia N. Lucero; Daniel Holguin; Ron Oncea; and her brothers, Samuel N. Lucero, James N. Lucero, and Jerry "Sonny" Lucero Jr.

While our hearts ache in her absence, we find peace in God's promise of eternal life. As written in John 14:2–3, "In my Father's house are many mansions… I go to prepare a place for you… I will come again, and receive you unto myself." We take comfort in knowing Dora was welcomed home into the arms of her Savior, hearing the words, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant" (Matthew 25:23).

Her legacy will live on in the love she gave so freely, the faith she carried so faithfully, and the countless lives she touched so deeply. Though she is no longer with us on earth, the love and lessons she shared continue to remind us to slow down, love deeply, and cherish every moment God gives us.

She will be forever missed, forever cherished, and forever loved.
