Obituary

DONALD MARTIN FRANKLIN joined the Lord on Friday, August 15, 2025, at the age of 73 in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Donnie was born on July 6, 1952, in El Paso, Texas, and grew up in Fort Hancock. He was a beloved son to Martin E. Franklin and Ann Franklin, who preceded him in death, as did his sister, Luanne Henderson.

Donnie attended Sul Ross State University for several years before beginning his career with El Paso Electric as a lineman. Eventually, he returned to his roots, cowboying at the Clint Feed Yards. Later, he followed his passion into the music business, spending many years in Nashville, Tennessee, working alongside Tommy Allsup and Gil Prather.

Donnie spent 25 years in Clifton, Texas, where he devoted himself to being an outstanding father to his only son, Ethan Franklin.

He will be remembered for his larger-than-life personality, his deep love for animals both big and small, and his lifelong passion for writing, playing, and producing music.

Donnie is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Tina Franklin, and their son, Ethan Franklin. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, as well as cherished brother-in-law and sisters-in-law who supported him faithfully throughout his life.

Though he will be deeply missed by all who knew him, his family finds comfort in knowing he is reunited with beloved family and friends in the presence of the Lord.
