It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Dominga Valenzuela on March 9, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Dominga was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was born April 2, 1939 in Old Picacho, NM to Jesus and Amelia Alvarez. She married Lionso Valenzuela in 1956 where they raised their family in Dona Ana before moving to Las Cruces. Dominga worked at the Dona Ana Community College with the GED and ESL Programs. She was a dedicated and hard worker where in June of 1987 she received the Paraprofessional of the year award. She is survived by her four daughters Julie Lott (Jerry) of Alamogordo, Sylvia Valenzuela and Gloria Chacon both of Las Cruces and Debra Gomez (Sam) from La Mesa, NM. She also leaves 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, son Joseph Valenzuela, 4 sisters, 1 brother, her parents and a special son Henry Alvarez.

A prayer vigil will be held on Tuesday March 18, 2025 at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church, 100 S. Espina Street. Visitations will begin at 09:00 A.M. Recitation of the Hol Rosary will begin at 10:00 A.M. and The Funeral Mass will follow. Interment and Rite of Committal will conclude at the Dona Ana Cemetery.

Serving as casket bearers include Justin Valenzuela, Joseph Valdez, David Lucero, Christopher Sargent, Sam Gomez and Joey Dominguez. Honorary casket bearers will be her granddaughters Amanda Keller, Jennifer and Jacqueline Valenzuela, Amber Dominguez, Samantha and Valerie Chacon, and Ashley Valdez and a special niece Roberta Alvarez. The family would like to give a special Thank You to Ashley and Jacqueline for the love and care they provided to our mother.
