Dolores Hidalgo Lucero, 95 of Dona Ana County, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026, at Mesilla Valley Hospice, Las Cruces.

Dolores was born in Las Cruces to Roman Barela Hidalgo and Maria Baca Hidalgo. Dolores, (AKA, 'Loli' to close Friends and Family), was a Matriarch with an amazing memory, collecting and storing Family history. Throughout her life Dolores was the one that Family members called upon to help them retrieve lost and anecdotal Family folklore.

In 1955 Dolores married Max Lucero, spending leisure time traveling. She fostered many relationships along with attending and assisting good friend Virgina Bailey Ward with LCHS class reunions. Dolores juggled an early career as an ophthalmology assistant and later a 'Dial-A-Gift' business Owner, while attending to her aging Parents.

Dolores is survived by her Husband of 70 years, Max M. Lucero, her Son Gerald Lucero (Lorry); three Grandchildren, Roman Lucero (Val'); Adriano Lucero and Isabella Parkey (Tyger) and Four Great Grandchildren consisting of Stevie Rae, Carson, Ozzy and EmmyLou, as well as Daughter-in-Law Terri Lucero-Scanlon, Sisters-in-Law Sadie Padilla, Chris Gurule, Bea Jenkins and many nephews, nieces and cousins.

Dolores was preceded in death by her younger Brother Edmundo, her Parents; Roman, Maria, her youngest Son Martin Paul and her Sister Ernestina (Tina) McIntyre, Kenneth Gurule, Orlando Lucero, Robert Lucero and Lucy Lucero.

A graveside and inurnment will be held at 12pm on Friday, July 24, 2026, at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, 5140 West Picacho.
