It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, sister-in-law and dear friend (MARIA) DELIA TRUJILLO, 90, of Las Cruces. Delia was born in El Rito, NM on March 8,1936 to Cora Vigil Lopez and Desiderio Lopez. At the age of three Delia's father passed and her mother remarried Rosario Lopez who embraced her as his own. Being the first born of a family of eight children, Delia assisted her mother with many of the responsibilities of the home and helped to raise her younger siblings. Delia attended school in El Rito and graduated from the El Rito Normal School with her high school diploma in 1952.

At the age of 19 Delia married the love of her life, Norberto Trujillo, and spent 66 years in a grace-filled marriage that was blessed with three children whom they raised in Las Cruces. Delia was a devoted wife and mother who dedicated her life to her family. She instilled in her children the importance of compassion, generosity, the love of family and the love of God.

Delia had an unwavering faith and was a parent volunteer at the Immaculate Heart of Mary church (now Cathedral) where her children attended the parish's parochial school. Delia was very creative and was known for her exceptional crafting abilities. Her crocheted afghans, flower arrangements, quilts and plastic canvas projects were admired by all. She was generous with her crafts, and many family members and friends have enjoyed and treasured the gifts of  "Delia's Creations". Delia was also known for her talent for making the most exquisite biscochitos whom everyone strived for, especially during Christmas and special occasions. Delia was known for her quiet demeanor and her sweet personality with a beautiful smile. She treated everyone with kindness and because of her tremendous friendliness she had many friends and no one was considered a stranger to her.

In this time of mourning, we hold Delia's legacy close to our hearts, remembering the love, joy, and warmth she brought into our lives. She will be deeply missed, yet her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. We take comfort and rejoice in the knowledge that she now rests in the everlasting peace of the Lord's presence.

Delia is survived by her children, Victor Trujillo I (Arlene) of Rio Rancho, Casilda Provencio of Las Cruces and Mariano Trujillo I (Charlene) of El Rito. She is also survived by her grandchildren Colonel Victor Trujillo II (Elizabeth), Ray Trujillo, Joanna Trujillo (TJ), Vanessa Provencio, Nellie Buezo, Natalia Buezo, Mariano Trujillo II (Erica) and Goddaughter Carmelita Atencio (Jody) who will all serve as casket bearers and honorary pallbearers. Delia was also blessed with 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Dorain Maestas (Rudy), Christine Trujillo (Raymond), two brothers, Roman Lopez (Susie) and Andy Lopez and many extended family members.  Also left to mourn her are her godchildren, Damian Cata, Howard Naranjo, Angie Cordova, Lourdes Jaramillo, Marthita Gladem, and Michelle Green.

Delia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Norberto, a grandson Javier Andres Trujillo; her sisters Susie Naranjo and Marbella Martinez and her brother Rosario Lopez Jr.

A visitation for Delia will begin at 10 AM Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, 1240 S. Espina Street with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 10:30 AM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated immediately thereafter with the Reverend Alejandro Reyes Celebrant.  The Rite of Christian Burial and Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 5140 W. Picacho Avenue where she will be laid to rest together with her husband.
