DELIA ALVAREZ ORDOÑEZ, age 69, of Las Cruces, entered eternal life on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at Mountain View Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her loved ones. Born October 28, 1956, in Tortugas, she was the beloved daughter of Eulalia Silguero and Gustavo Alvarez.
A devoted mother, sister, and friend, Delia lived her life with compassion, strength, and unwavering faith. She served her community as a registered nurse, offering comfort, skill, and kindness to countless patients throughout her career. Her gentle spirit and dedication to caring for others reflected her deep commitment to her Catholic faith and the values she carried close to her heart.
Delia is survived by her caring daughter, Annette Ordonez (Hector Gomez) of Las Cruces; her cherished four‑legged companion, Alex; two brothers, Andres Silguero (Josie) and Ernesto Alvarez; and five sisters, Yolanda Mireles (Manuel), Estella Alvarez, Marcela Alvarez, Gustava Aguilar all from Las Cruces; and Anita Diaz (Rosario) of California. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Yessenia, Adriana, Yanette, Kimberly and Hector; son‑in‑law, Victor Lopez, and numerous nieces and nephews who will forever hold her memory dear. She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Antonio M. Ordunez on February 27, 2025; a daughter, Adrianne Ordonez and other family members.
Delia’s life was one of service, devotion, and love. Her family and friends will remember her warm smile, her steady presence, and the way she made everyone feel cared for. May she rest in peace and rise in glory.
Calling hours for Delia will be from 1 PM to 4 PM Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Baca’s Funeral Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road, Las Cruces, NM.
On Friday, August 21, 2026, the Prayer Vigil will begin at 2 PM at Santa Rosa De Lima Catholic Church, 5035 Holsome Road, with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 2:30 PM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated immediately thereafter with the Reverend Gino Wilcox, Celebrant. At her request cremation will follow and Inurnment of cremains will be held at a later date.
Serving as casket bearers will be Delia’s family and friends.
