Deila Guerrero, 69 of Vado, New Mexico

Delia died on April 1,2026 in her own home and her own bed, a reflection of the independent life she had always chosen to live.

A fighter and stubborn woman, Delia fought her way through cancer, chronic illness, multiple hospitalizations, and multiple surgeries and procedures for over the past twenty years. She lived through and mourned the deaths of many of her loved ones including her brother Richard, sisters Esperanza and Mary, her nephews Ronnie and Lupito and many others. With so much pain and loss over the years and as life became harder to bear, she never forgot about what mattered most to her- her faith and her family.

Delia was a friend to those in need, often giving to others when she had very little to give. She often raided her pantry to see what she could give to her children and grandchildren when visiting, often saying that she had "too much anyway".

She loved talking to those who would listen and was always willing to listen to those who needed to talk. She was an example of strength and perseverance to her family, living a life of poverty, but never letting them feel poor.

Delia is survived by her two sons: Michael Guerrero and his spouse Christine, Richard Guerrero and his spouse Magdalena. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Priscilla Guerrero and her spouse Eric Melendrez, Michael Guerrero Jr., Emma Guerrero, Richard Antonio Guerrero, and Elizabeth Guerrero. Delia leaves behind two great-grandchildren, Mia Melendrez and Anthony Melendrez. She is also survived by two sisters, Victoria (Vicky) Sauceda, and Eustolia (Toly) Holguin.

Delia never married, but when asked about what she was most proud of in life she would say, "Raising my two sons- On my own!"
