David Henry Stephenson, 62 of Las Cruces, New Mexico went to be with His Lord and Savior on November 15, 2023.
David was born at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico to Henry and Nancy Stephenson. David attended Andress High School in El Paso, Texas and after graduation served in the U.S. Navy for six years as a submariner. One of his duty stations was aboard the nuclear submarine, USS Flasher. After the Navy, he moved to Las Cruces and began working at White Sands Missile Range in 1987 as a UPS Electronics Specialist and continued up until the time of his death. David had a passion for photography, capturing the beauty of God's creation in his photos. He took pleasure in designing and creating furniture in his workshop and was meticulous in his craftsmanship. But, what David was most passionate about was his love for God and serving others. He enjoyed teaching and serving at Las Cruces First Assembly of God.
David and his childhood crush, Judy Beer, reconnected in 2017. The love story that started so many years ago on Blossom Avenue, El Paso, Texas was rekindled and they were married July 7, 2018. Though their time together was short, it was filled with photo trips, house remodel projects, furniture building, ministry opportunities and drives around town. David had found the one whom his soul loved (Song of Solomon 3:4). Judy had prayed for a man who loved the Lord more than he loved her, because in his love for the Lord, he would love her just right. David was the answer to that prayer.
David is survived by the love of his life, Judy; one son Phillip (Alyx) Stephenson; his parents, Henry and Nancy; and one brother, Gary; and grandsons Matthew and Connor Privitt (Marina's sons). He is survived by three step-sons, Caleb Olson (Devyn); Zachary Olson (Coralee); and Daniel Olson; and his two grandsons Rowyn Olson and Mathias Olson along with many uncles, aunts and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and his step-daughter, Marina Allison.
A celebration of life service will take place at Las Cruces First Assembly of God on 5605 Bataan Memorial West at 2pm on Wednesday, November 29, 2023. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that you bless someone in need, remembering David.
