Pastor David Bustos, a revered figure in Mesilla, New Mexico, peacefully passed away on July 12th, 2024, at his home.
David was born in Mesilla, NM on September 6, 1932, to Dolores and Mucio Bustos, Pastor David dedicated over seven decades to the Apostolic Assembly, joining in 1950. His service extended beyond the church as he faithfully served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1979, including a tour in Vietnam.
Throughout his life, Pastor David Bustos touched countless lives through fervent prayers and boundless generosity, earning him a cherished place in the community. His commitment to spreading the word of the Lord was matched only by his devotion to his beloved wife of 71 years, Eleanor Bustos, and their three daughters: Esther Frietze husband John, Jeannie Zeitler husband Lane, and Marie Licon, all residing in Las Cruces.
He leaves behind a legacy embraced by four grandchildren: Dominic Licon wife April, Melissa Pope husband Garnett, David Pena, and Chezarae Zeitler, as well as seven great-grandchildren: Alexis McVay husband Jacob, Faith Licon, Kylie Licon, and Dominic J. Licon, Jailynn Pope, Myda Pena, and David I. Pena and two great-great-grandchildren: Jolene and Jaxon McVay
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Eloisa Madrid, Helen Rivera, Stella Gallegos, Sammy Bustos, and Elias Bustos.
A viewing for Pastor Bustos will be held from 9am to 10am, followed by services on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at the Las Cruces Convention Center, 680 E University Ave, Las Cruces, NM 88001. A burial with military honors will take place on Monday, August 5, 2024, at 2pm at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Avenue, El Paso, TX 79906.
Serving as casket bearers will be Dominic Licon, Lane Zeitler, David Pena, Chezarae Zeitler, Dominic J Licon, Jacob McVay, and Garnett Pope.
