DARRELL DEE GIACOMELLI, passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at his home in Las Cruces, NM.  Born on December 20, 1949, in Durango, Colorado, Darrell loved just about anything having to do with the outdoors.  Whether it was camping, fishing, hunting, or hiking, Darrell probably had a map for it (as well as lots of equipment and gear)!

Darrell attended New Mexico State University, where he received a bachelor's degree in criminal justice.  He then continued to work at NMSU for 25 years as an administrator in campus housing.

Fondly known as "Mr. G," Darrell spent the last 25 years helping maintain the facilities and systems of the Las Cruces Catholic School.  The families, staff, and students of LCCS held a special place in Darrell's heart.

Darrell is survived by his wife of 39 years, Missy; his three daughters Kiley (Errol) Lockett of Las Cruces, NM, Alyx (Phillip) Stephenson of Jacksonville, FL, and Lindsey (Matthew) Hood of Scottsdale, AZ as well as his sister, Debbie Loftis of Albuquerque, NM.  Darrell had three grandchildren: Harper, Rory and Eliakim.  He was preceded in death by his parents and older sister.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 15 at the Basilica of San Albino, 2280 Calle Principal.  Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 2:00 with mass immediately following at 2:30.  Inurnment will take place at Masonic Cemetery, 760 South Compress Road, after mass
