DANIEL JOSEPH "JODY" CASTILLO, passed away peacefully at his home in Las Cruces, New Mexico, on Sundy, June 29, 2025, at the age of 79. Born in Phoenix, Arizona, December 11, 1945, Daniel lived a life marked by service, hard work, and deep devotion to his family.

A proud veteran, Daniel served in the United States Navy, embodying the principles of honor, duty, and commitment throughout his life. After his military service, he continued to serve his country as a heavy equipment operator for the Bureau of Reclamation, where his skilled hands helped shape the landscapes and infrastructure that support so many communities in the American Southwest.

Daniel was the beloved son of Maria Vega and Leandro Castillo. He was a devoted father, cherished grandfather, loyal brother, and loving uncle and cousin. His warmth, generosity, and steadfast nature left an indelible mark on all who knew him. Whether offering guidance, cracking a quiet smile, or lending a helping hand, Daniel's presence was a source of strength and comfort.

His legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will remember him for his integrity, resilience, and unwavering love. He will be deeply missed and forever honored.

He is survived by his sons, Dino Castillo of Tucson, Arizona, and Gabriel Castillo of San Diego, California. He is also remembered by his cherished and devoted daughters: Michelle Castillo, Jodie Delgado (Luis), Jennifer Castillo (Antonio), all from Las Cruces, and Kendra Baldonado (Mike) of Albuquerque. His siblings continue to hold his memory close: brothers Chopo Castillo of Lordsburg, Raymond Prosser, and Georgie Murphy (Gail); and sisters Julia Ramirez of Lordsburg, Raenell Montoya (Arturo), Kathleen Murphy (Lester), Marilyn Altebaumer (Jim), and Maria Arredondo (Silverio).

His greatest joy and enduring legacy were undoubtedly found in his beloved family. His presence will be deeply missed by his 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, all of whom he adored. Daniel was their steadfast supporter, enthusiastically attending countless sporting events and activities, always there to cheer them on. His reflection of love and wisdom was a guiding light, generously shared throughout his life with each new generation. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Daniel Joseph and Leandro Anthony Castillo; brother, Leandro Castillo; sister, Linda Murphy; and grandson, Steven Ray Castillo.
