CYNTHIA LARA, age 62, a lifelong resident of Las Cruces, entered eternal life on Friday, November 28, 2025. A beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, Cynthia was born on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1963, to Consuelo Porras and Jose Lara. Her birth on a day devoted to love was a fitting beginning for a life defined by compassion, warmth, and gentle care.
Cynthia's loving spirit touched all who knew her. She was a quiet strength in her family, offering kindness, support, and a nurturing presence that will be deeply missed. Her devotion to her family and her community was unwavering, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
She is survived by her devoted father, Jose "Joe" Lara; her brothers, Daniel Lara and Joe Lara (Terri); and her sisters, Patricia Ovalle, Terri Figueroa (Louie), Leticia Corral (Fermin), and Sandra Lara all from Las Cruces. Cynthia also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who cherished her deeply. She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Consuelo Porras, and her brother, Arthur Lara.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 9:30 AM on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Baca's Funeral Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road, followed by the Liturgy of the Word. The Rite of Committal and Interment will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 5140 W. Picacho Avenue, where Cynthia will be laid to rest in the family plot.
Honored to serve as casket bearers are Nehemiah D. Lara, Daniel Lara, Eric Ovalle, Jesse Lara, Elijah Figueroa, Jayden Villapando, Jose Martinez, and Danny Pena.
Cynthia's legacy of love, humility, and grace will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her. May she rest in eternal peace.
