CONSUELO ORDUÑEZ BARELA, age 78, lifelong resident of Las Cruces passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Sierra Medical Center in El Paso, Texas. She was born July 21, 1945, to Juanita Orduñez and Juan Barela. Consuelo was a homemaker that enjoyed caring for her loved ones and was a devout member of the Living Waters Assembly of God.

Survivors include her daughters, Ernestina Barela-Moss (Bryan), Angela S. Barela, Genevieve Barela and Diane Barela all of Las Cruces; brother, Frankie Barela of Bakersfield, CA; and sister, Mary Lou Barela of Tucson, AZ. Other survivors include 21 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; the father of her children, Albino Baca; a daughter, Patricia "Patsy" Barela; four brothers, Pascual, Ralph, Arturo, and Danny Barela; and sister, Antonia "Toni" Rivera.

At her request cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at 2 PM Thursday, February 8, 2024, at Baca's Funeral Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road. Inurnment of cremains will be held at a later date.
