On July 3, 2025, CHERYL ANN SCHUBBE- LUNA, left our Earth and headed back home, to be greeted by those who preceded her in death her mother, Carol Butler; father, Jack Schubbe; and her longtime partner, Raymond DiMatteo. She will be mostly remembered by those around her for her generous nature and her adventurous personality.
Cheryl was a diamond in the rough, a free spirit that did not like seeing her family and friends struggle through life the way she had endured. Spending most of her time as a homemaker and a friend to those in need, she gave effortlessly and without question to those she called family, to those she called friends and even to people she did not know.
She had a heart of gold and those closest to her will remember her for that. Cheryl often did without so others would not have to. She liked to surround herself with the people of this world who had nothing to give but their company and their stories, "The Homeless"
Cheryl was a loving mother, daughter, aunt, cousin, friend, grandmother, and she was one of the most truly remarkable and amazing sisters, that anyone could ask for; selfless, caring, giving and loving. She may be gone from our eyes and gone from our world, but she will always reside in our hearts, eternally!
We love you, Cheryl. You are finally free from the heavy cross you had to bear.
Survivors include her loving daughter, Angela Fernandez of Ruidoso; son, Lewis Favor of North Carolina; a sister, Jackie Jacobs of Ruidoso; sister, Denise Schubbe of Las Cruces; brother, Jack W.G. Schubbe of Organ; sister, Lori Torres of Las Cruces; and her beloved 8 grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, and nephews.
At her request, cremation will take place, and no services are scheduled at this time.
