Obituary

It is with deep love and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Charles T. Boyd (Chuck, Tommy), a well-loved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and cherished friend, who passed away on September 24, 2026 at the age of 87. A proud veteran, Tommy, served honorably in the U.S. Army, followed by five dedicated years in the Army Reserves. Following his military service, he channeled his passion for sports into his community, serving as a respected golf official for the Sun Country Golf Association for over 25 years. An avid, lifelong golfer, he spent countless joy filled hours on the course alongside his son and grandsons. Among his favorite memories was the unforgettable day he scored a hole-in-one while playing a round with them. His absolute favorite golf course was the legendary St. Andrews in Scotland, where he and his son played an unforgettable round of golf.

Beyond the golf course, he was famous for his immense generosity and warmth. He regularly brought joy to others by baking birthday cakes for family and friends, and his legendary, highly sought-after rum cake and pecan brittle were both a beloved staple at any gathering. Above all, his greatest devotion was to his family. He was married to Bernice Boyd, the absolute love of his life, for 66 wonderful years. Together, they built a beautiful legacy of unconditional love and laughter. He was preceded in death by Karen Bradford, his youngest daughter, Jim and Mayvis Boyd, his parents, and Jimmy and Bobby Boyd, his brothers. He is survived and lovingly remembered by Bernice Boyd, his devoted wife, Deanna Nanez, his daughter, and her husband Ruben, Chuck Boyd Jr., his son and 6 grandchildren Ryan, Bryce, Brandon, Nathan, Trenton, Tysha and their spouses along with 7 great-grandchildren, with an 8th precious great-grandchild on the way.

A Celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, October 10 at Holy Cross Multipurpose room from 12:00-3:00 PM.
