CELIA GONZALES BENCOMO, 94, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2024, in Las Cruces, NM. She was born on June 7, 1929, in Derry, NM. Celia was a wonderful cook and was famous for her red chile, flour tortillas, and bizcochos, which she generously shared with her family and friends. Celia and Celso were devoted to each other and were devout Catholics all their lives. We know she has joyfully joined her beloved husband in Heaven.

"When one finds a worthy wife, her value is far beyond pearls. Her husband, entrusting his heart to her, has an unfailing prize." Proverbs 31.

Celia leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews and her sisters-in law, Emma Vega, and Elvira Tafoya. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 69 years, Celso Bencomo; her parents, Jose and Josefina Gonzales of Derry, NM; and siblings, Elias Gonzales, Cecilia Abraham, Robert L. Gonzales, Adolfo Gonzales, Belia Lara, and an infant twin sister.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 10 AM Saturday, May 18, 2024, at The Mission of San Jose Catholic Church, 54060 Arrey School Road in Arrey with the Memorial Mass to be celebrated thereafter with The Reverend Mike Williams, Celebrant. Inurnment of cremains will follow at the Arrey Cemetery.
