CATALINA DOZAL-BARELA, of Berino, New Mexico passed away April 1, 2025, at Mountain View Regional Medical Center.

Kathy was born in El Paso, Texas to Tiodosa and Santiago Dozal. Kathy graduated from Gadsden High School is 1972 and went to Washington DC to work for the FBI for 6 months, when she returned to Berino, New Mexico she worked as a bookkeeper for several different farms in the Messila Valley for 40 years. She married in 1992 to Andy Barela, and they remained in a loving relationship until her death. During her life she maintained close contact with her best friends Lucy and Oscar Hinojosa and Blasa Rivera.

Kathy is survived by her husband Andy; daughter, Jeanette Gonzales; grandson, Jacob Gonzales; great-grandson, Jacob Noah Gonzales; dearest cousin, Gilda Estrada, and family; niece and nephew Bobbie and Rick Ciniceros and their children, Monica, Desi, Andrea, and Lydia.  She is also survived by several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tiodosa and Santiago Dozal; her dearest cousin, Irene Almanzar, and cousin, Ida Reyes.
