CARMEN "MACAJI" TORRES CHAVEZ, age 49, passed away Monday, June 9, 2025, at Memorial Medical Center. She was born May 8, 1976, in Bell Flower, California to Lydia Hernandez and Javier Torres. "Macaji" as she was known to family and friends was employed as a cashier at the Truck Stops of America in Las Cruces.

Survivors include her loving husband, Edward Chavez; two sons, Edward Anthony, and Joseph Michael Chavez; her parents, Javier, and Lydia Torres; brother, Joey Torres, Jr. (Evelyn); nieces, Alexia, Ashely, and Desire; nephews, Joey Torres, and Manny Chavez; aunts, Rita and David Glasscock, Alice, and JR Aldalco; uncles, Steve, and Frank Hernandez; cousins, Santiago, Jr., Eddie, Josh, Angel, Sonia, Alysia, Veronica, and Amanda. Macaji was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Christina Chavez; maternal grandparents, Carmen, and Francisco Hernandez; paternal grandparents, Maria and Francisco Torres.

Visitation will begin at 10 AM Monday, July 7, 2025, at Baca's Funeral Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road with the Prayer Vigil at 10:30 AM. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11 AM in the same chapel. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Doña Ana Cemetery where she will be laid to rest.

Serving as casket bearers will be, Joey Torres, Mitchell Allred, Eddie Valenzuela, Jr., Josh Arrey, Santiago Rios, Jr., and Jimmy Rivera.
