It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend Carmen Evaro Olivas on May 12, 2024 at the age of 79 years old.  She was born September 6, 1944 in La Mesa, New Mexico to Magdalena and Camilo Evaro.

Carmen was a 1964 Gadsden High School Graduate showing her pride as a Pantherette Dancer. She was employed at Memorial General Hospital in Las Cruces, NM as a nurse's aide and worked for Honeywell many years before retiring. Her retirement days consisted of volunteering in the community of Del Cerro (Mesquite, NM) and surrounding areas. She most liked spending days at the Tres Manos Weaving of Southern New Mexico creating beautiful scarves.  When her children were in their youth, Carmen was known in the community of La Mesa and Anthony, NM as a baseball mom.  She assisted at the baseball park concession stand while all her children played ball.  She was a member of the VFW Post 4384 Ladies Auxiliary for 20 plus years.

Those left to mourn her include son Joseph R. Olivas (Denisa), daughters Josephina E. Olivas (Benjamin Cordero), Geraldine Olivas and Eydie W. Ervine. 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She also leaves 14 siblings.

She was preceded in death by her parents Magdalena and Camilo Evaro.  Her grandchildren Kimberly O. Campos, Miguel Angel Alcantar-Olivas and ex-husband Joe R. Olivas.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday May 31, 2024 at Baca's Funeral Chapel, 300, E Boutz Road. Visitations will begin at 06:00 P.M. and the Funeral Service will begin at 07:00 P.M. Inurnment will take place at a later date.
