Carlos was and will forever be a kind, caring, thoughtful, strong, and giving man who gave the best hugs and forehead kisses. He always had a smile on his face, especially when surrounded by family. No matter the hour nor the day, you call Carlos and he was there for you in a heartbeat. You always felt loved after seeing him. Carlos Raul Lopez passed away in his home on July 20, 2025 at the age of 59. He was born on July 26, 1965, in Las Cruces, New Mexico. His career consisted of working for the City of Las Cruces and Memorial Medical Center under their maintenance department. His first love was mechanical work; favorite part of the job was getting his hands dirty. Carlos was a jack of all trades.

Carlos was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys and Boston Celtics fan. He would always say "How about them Cowboys." He would not leave the house without some type of Cowboys or Celtic gear. You would never see him without a baseball cap on. When it came to game day, head to toe gear would be on. No matter the wins or losses those were his teams for life. After a stressful game, his favorite past time was fishing. In his room he had 5 tackle boxes and 4 fishing rods, and he would not dare let one go. Carlos's loyalty and love runs deep for his family, he wore his heart on his sleeve, never judged, and always saw the best in people. He would give you his last 5 dollars without hesitation. He will be remembered as Carlos, Carlito, Pecas, son, brother, dad, grandad, uncle, and friend. His greatest life achievement was his daughter Krisayda. They had a special and unbreakable bond His daughter Krisayda and two grandchildren Ismael and Klarynda were the highlight of his life and greatest joy. The smile that came across his face when talking about his grandchildren lit up every single room. He knew every one of Ismael football games, and every trumpet concert/ basketball game of Klarynda. The joy and passion beamed through his words when he talked about their accomplishments. His memory will forever live on because of who he was, what he stood for, and the impact he left here on this earth.

Carlos is survived by his mother Maria Lopez, brothers Ed and Roger Lopez, sisters Carmen Lopez and Bertha Lewis, daughter Krisayda and lifelong companion Angel, two grandchildren Ismael and Klarynda and several nieces and nephews.

A prayer vigil will be held on Friday August 29, 2025 at Baca's Funeral Chapel, 300 E Boutz, Road. The recitation of the Rosary will begin at 06:00 P.M. and the Funeral Liturgy will follow at 06:30 P.M. Inurnment will take place at a later date.
