It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved, father, son, brother, uncle and good friend, CARLOS "CHINO" CHAVEZ LOPEZ, age 60 of La Mesa. He was born July 20, 1963, in Fabens, Texas to Martin and Maria de Jesus Chavez Lopez. Carlos was employed with R-2 Contractors as a sign technician. One of his passions in life was playing softball and had a great sense of humor. His big smile will be miss by all that knew him.

Survivors include his loving sons, Nicholas Carlos Lopez and Christopher Carlos Lopez; his best friend and mother of his children, Maria Rodriguez all of Kansas; his mother, Maria de Jesus Lopez of San Miguel; brother, Martin "Chito" Lopez (Maria) of Las Cruces; and 4 sisters, Yolanda Lopez and Leticia Silva (Gabriel) all of San Miguel; Lydia Gonzalez (Mario) of Brazito and Susana Lopez (Enrique) of El Paso, TX. Other survivors include numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and a host of friend. Carlos was preceded in death by his daughter, Monica Inez Lopez on September 28, 2014; his father, Martin Lopez; maternal grandparents, Candelario and Isabel Chavez and paternal grandparents, Jacinto and Ignacia M. Lopez.

Funeral Service for Carlos or Chino will begin at 10 AM Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at Cristo-La Unica Respuesta Church, at the corner of Corpening and Principal Streets in La Mesa with Pastor Antonio Solis officiating. Concluding Service and Interment will follow at Masonic Cemetery, 760 S. Compress Road where he will be laid to rest in the family plot.

Serving casket bearers will be Nicholas, Christopher, Martin "Chito", Jr., Lopez, Adolfo Morales, Javier Chavez, Chris Varela and Esquiel Chavez.
