CARLA PIÑA YAW, age 57, of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 15, 2025, at Sierra Vista Hospital, surrounded by her devoted family. Born October 31, 1967, in Las Cruces, Carla brought light and warmth to everyone she met. She was the cherished daughter of Nicholas A. Piña and Consuelo R. Piña, whom preceded her in death along with her two daughters, Shae Kayla Yaw and Jordan Sky Yaw, whose memories she held close to her heart. Carla dedicated her life to education and community, serving with compassion and commitment at Hatch Valley Public Schools. A woman of deep faith, she was a proud member of the Catholic Church.

Carla's greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her loving husband, Elvis L. Yaw of T or C; her son, Elvis D. Yaw (Priscilla Cabral) her beloved grandsons, Jude G. Yaw and Micah G. Yaw of Animas Creek; her daughters, Laken P. Yaw (Daniel Nuñez) of Caballo, and Shae C. Yaw (Hector G. Caraza) of T or C. She also leaves behind her brother, Nicholas R. Piña of Rio Rancho; and her niece, Amanda N. Piña of El Paso, TX. Carla's love extended to her great-nephew, Daniel V. Olivas and great-niece, Danielle N. Olivas who will carry her memory forward.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 9:30 AM Friday, September 12, 2025, at San Miguel Catholic Church, 19217 S. Hwy 28 in San Miguel. The Funeral Mass will follow immediately thereafter. In accordance with Carla's wishes, cremation will take place, and inurnment of her cremains will be held at a later date.

Carla's legacy is one of love, resilience, and unwavering faith. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
