Obituary

C. Leticia Frietze, 81, of Mesilla, New Mexico, passed away on July 19, 2024  at her home surrounded by her loved ones.
Leticia was born on April 10, 1943, in El Paso, Texas, to Enrique and Carmen Berroteran.
Leticia graduated from Las Cruces High School in 1961 and attended NMSU. She met Neri Frietze when he returned from his service in the Marine Corps. They dated and married on August 15, 1964. They had three sons, raising them in Mesilla, NM. Leticia stayed at home raising their sons, being instrumental in instilling values that they have carried over into their own families. She was a cornerstone for Neri and their sons, supporting them in their activities to achieve their goals in life. She began employment with the Las Cruces Public Schools, having worked at Central, East Picacho, and Columbia elementary schools. She enjoyed being a part of her students' lives, helping them obtain a foundation of knowledge to carry throughout their lives. Upon retirement, she spent time with her grandchildren again, instilling values in this new generation. When Neri retired, they began to travel the world, going on cruises, visiting Japan, Argentina, and other countries, and traveling throughout the United States.
Leticia is survived by her husband, Neri, and sons Phillip (Kathy), John, and James (Oralia). Her grandchildren Kati, Tori (Keriann), Jacob (Kaydn), Ethan, John Eric, Makayla, Matthew, and Andrew. Her great-grandchildren Ella, and Maia. Brother, Victor Berroteran, and sister Henrietta Berroteran. She is also survived by many nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Enrique and Carmen Berroteran, and in-laws, Norberto and Cipriana Frietze.
A prayer vigil will be held on Tuesday August 13, 2024 at the Basilica of San Albino, 2280 Calle Principal. Visitations will begin at 10:30 A.M. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 11:00 A.M. and the Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 A.M. Interment and Rite of Committal will conclude at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, 5140 W. Picacho Avenue.
Serving as casket bearers include Phillip Frietze, John Frietze, James Frietze, Jacob Frietze, John Eric Frietze, and Andrew Frietze.
