Billy Wayne "Bill" Johnson, 73, went to his eternal rest on August 31, 2024, at his home in Animas Creek, New Mexico. Born on February 27, 1951, in Ft Hood, Texas, Bill led a life marked by his love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and dedication to his family.
Upon graduating from Mayfield High School in 1969, Bill proudly and honorably served in the Army National Guard.
After retiring from the City of Las Cruces Welding/Maintenance Department, he then channeled his extensive skills into his own business, operating a successful construction and maintenance company for over three decades.
Bill was a craftsman at heart, known for his exceptional woodworking and welding skills. His creations were not only a testament to his talent but also a reflection of his love for making things with his hands.
In addition, he and his brother Gary, had a long-time music ministry, Country Praise, dedicated to spreading the good news by sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ thru music and personal testimony.
He is survived by his loving family, wife Phyllis; son Jeremy Johnson and wife Kyla, daughter Tammy Johnson; grandchildren Casey Johnson, Destiney Aguilar and husband Rick, Daisy Marquez and husband Roger, Landon Johnson, Jenna Johnson, Eli Johnson, and Jayce Allar; great grandchild Malakhi Aguilar. Bill also leaves behind his twin sister Shirley Hall and husband Mike, brother Gary Johnson, sister Bobbie Jo Head and husband Greg; sister-in-law Doris Pannelli; brother-in-law Tommy Stevens; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Homer and Kathleen Johnson; son Billy Clifton Johnson; sister-in-law Judy Johnson; and niece Carrie Johnson.
Graveside services will be held at the Garden of Memories Cemetery, 101 Apajo Way, Hatch, New Mexico, on September 20, 2024 at 10:00 am.
All friends, family, and those whose lives he touched are invited to honor Bill's memory and celebrate his life.
