It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother Betty (Serna) Wantz who passed away on July 15, 2024, at the age of 78.  She was comforted with lots of love and care by her family and staff from High Desert Hospice.

She was born on April 26, 1946 in Albuquerque, NM, to Margarita C. Serna and Adenago Serna.

Our mother was very thoughtful and compassionate person.  She loved her family and friends.  She was kind, generous with her time and extremely thoughtful in everything that she did.  She was a hardworking, loving, and devoted mother to her four children and grandchildren.

Some of my mom's favorite things were bingo and casinos from time to time, sewing, crafts, and going to church.

Through the years, she had a few jobs, which included factory work and a convalescent home.  She also took care of ill family members.

Her heart was full, and it overflowed onto all who knew her.  To miss someone so much means they were extremely special, and we were blessed to have her in our lives.  She is in our hearts forever and will always be missed.  We know she's Happy now and isn't in pain.  It hurts to be apart, but we will see her again.  We are comforted to know she is in heaven, sharing her gifts and smiling down on all of us.  I hope and pray that we can continue her passion for her family, friends, tradition and creativity.

Survivors include her children: two daughters, Angela (Gallegos) King of California, Yvonne Margaret (Gallegos) Perez of California, one Son, Greg Allen Wantz of California.  One brother, Steven Serna of Utah, Other survivors include 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.  Betty was preceded in death by her parents, brother Florencio Serna, 3 Sisters Maryann Sheets, Louisa Yepes, and Lydia Corona, 1 daughter Mary Daisy (Gallegos) Greer.

We will never forget the love she brought to our lives; she will forever live in our hearts.

A prayer vigil will be held on Wednesday July 31, 2024 at Baca's Funeral Chapel, 300 E Boutz Road. Visitations will begin at 02:30 P.M. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 03:30 P.M. and The Funeral Liturgy will begin at 04:00 P.M. Inurnment and Rite of Committal will conclude on Thursday August 1, 2024 at 10:30 A.M at San Juan Catholic Cemetery in Veguita, NM.
