BERTHA BAQUERA OCHOA, age 85, of Salem passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family.  She was born November 3, 1939, in Julimes, Chihuahua, Mexico to Sofia Pando and Angel Baquera. Bertha was a loving homemaker and a devout member of the Roman Catholic Church.

Survivors include a son, Jesus Manuel Ochoa Jr., (Michelle) of Rincon; two daughters, Bertha Maria Salto (Jose) of Michigan and Lupe Lucero (Ernie) of Salem; her brother, Jose Baquera (Kika) of Garfield and two sisters, Amelia Chaparro of Hatch, and Romelia Carreras of Las Cruces. Other survivors include 17 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Jesus Manuel Ochoa Hernandez in 1989; daughter, Carmen Lucero; 2 grandsons; 1 great-grandson; 3 brothers and 4 sisters.

Visitation for Mrs. Ochoa will begin at 9 AM Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Our Lord of Mercy Catholic Church, 120 Hartman Street in Hatch with the Prayer Vigil at 9:30 AM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated immediately thereafter with The Reverend Ivan Torres, Celebrant. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery where she will be laid to rest in the family plot.

Serving as caskets bearers will be Markus Ochoa, Frankie, Ricardo, Valentin, Carlos, and Anthony Lucero.
