MS. BERTHA PAEZ BERNAL, age 89, of Las Cruces passed away Friday, October 27, 2023, at her home. She was born October 19, 1934, in Tortugas, NM to Ofelia Salazar and Bernardo Paez. Bertha was employed with the Las Cruces Public School for 27 years until her retirement. She was a Valedictorian of Morenci, Arizona and was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Ms. Bernal will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include three sons, Arturo Bernal (Darlene J.), Richard Bernal all of Las Cruces; and Patrick Bernal (Renee) of Sierra Vista, AZ; three brothers, Gilbert Paez (Lissette) of Austin, TX., Rudy Paez (Conchita) of Phoenix, AZ., and Art Paez (Ruth) of Tucson, AZ; four sisters, Estella Ulibarri, of Belen, NM., Maggie Garcia, of Flagstaff, AZ., Virginia Tellez (Ramiro) of Las Cruces and Rachael Paez of Phoenix, AZ. Other survivors include 5 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband Ramon Bernal on April 20, 2013; sister, Natalia Valdez and brother, Bernardo "Bernie" Paez.

At Ms. Bernal's request cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held Monday, November 20, 2023, at 11 AM at Baca's Funeral Home, 300 E. Boutz Road, Las Cruces with Elder Arturo Paez presiding. Inurnment of cremains will take place at a later date.
