BENITA MARTINEZ GARCIA, 90

"Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free, I'm following the path God laid for me. I took his hand when I heard his call, I turned my back and left it all."

It is with great sadness that the Garcia family announces the passing of their beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt.  Mom entered this life on March 2, 1933, to parents, Clemente, and Ricarda Martinez of San Miguel, and greeted by her husband, Ramon Garcia to walk together through the Gates of Heaven on Thursday, January 10, 2024, she was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her passing. Mom was a homemaker for many years, she then was employed by Premio Los Ninos after 9 years of work she retired. She enjoyed traveling, camping, spending time with family, friends, enjoyed her outings to bingo, casinos, and was active with the Catholic church.

As Benita would always say, "Dios por delante y uno atrás de él." And "Ay mi Corazón"

Benita is survived by her 3 sons, and 8 daughters; Raymond Garcia, (Maria) of Las Cruces, Rudy Garcia (April) of Brazito, Sammy Garcia (Gena) of Albuquerque; daughters, Mae Garcia of Las Cruces, Grace Campos (Jose) of Las Cruces, Beatrice Molina (Alfredo) of Leasburg, Patsy Banegas (Tim) of Las Cruces, Gloria Meacham (Tom+) of Las Cruces, Debbie Torrez (Elias) of El Paso, TX.,  Irma Chavez (Bobby) of Las Cruces, Linda Bullin (Kelly) of Azle, TX;  a  sister, Carmen Martinez, of San Miguel; her beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren and  great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ramon S. Garcia; grandson, B.J. Chavez; son-in-law, Tom Meacham; her parents, Clemente 0. and Ricarda Martinez; her siblings Ernesto and Victor Martinez, Dora Otero, and Rumalda Martinez.

Our most sincere appreciation to mom's caregiver, Ms. Delishia Hernandez, she took very loving care of our mom, thank you to Tender Care-Hospice for their assistance.

Visitation for Ms. Garcia will begin at 10 AM Saturday, January 27, 2024, at the San Miguel Catholic Church, 19217 S. Highway 28 in San Miguel with the Prayer Vigil at 10:30 AM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated immediately thereafter with the Reverend Alonso Quiñonez, Celebrant. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the San Miguel Cemetery where she will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband in the family plot.

Serving as casket bearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
